Listening to Pat tonight, I recall a PMG concert at the Fox Theater in downtown Detroit years ago. It was The Way Up concert. In front of us were a couple who brought their teenage son to the show. Before the group kicked off, the kid turned and asked me if they were going to play his dad’s favorite song. He then, albeit awkwardly, tried to hum a few bars of this song. I was pretty sure what the song was, but I told him, after having seen PMG a few times, that they would probably throw in a few standards somewhere during the show. After the group took a breather, they did indeed played a set of the “oldies.” When they launched into “Are You Going With Me?” the kid turned -- and just smiled! |
