Question:

Hi Pat, First of all I want to say that you are awesome. I've seen you in concert seven times, I have all your Cd's and whenever I am having a bad day all I need to do is pop in the tune, "Have You Heard" and I feel much better. OK, here's my question. The song,"Goin' Ahead" is such a beautiful piece of work...what was your inspiration? How come you never play it on the road?

Pat’s Answer:

"goin' ahead" was totally improvised in the studio as the last thing recorded on the record 80/81 when we realized we had almost enough for a double record. we needed one more track, and i went out there and played the basic chords and then on another track, played on top of it. i remember being nervous, because jack, charlie, dewey and mike were all in the booth listening to me play solo! but on the other hand, the record date was over, it had gone well, and everyone was feeling good, so there was a good vibe to be playing in.
