Bookmark and Share I was remembering Directions in Music: Live at Massey Hall is a live recording by Herbie Hancock, Roy Hargrove and Michael Brecker. It was recorded on October 25, 2001 in Toronto, and was subtitled, Celebrating Miles Davis & John Coltrane. Hard to believe Roy Hargrove and Michael Brecker are both passed. They must be jammin’ in heaven !

Bookmark and Share Very sad news. My favorite album released in the past ten years is Jimmy Cobb’s "Jazz in the Key of Blue" that features Roy Hargrove and Russell Malone performing ballads throughout. Just beautiful playing by Roy. And perhaps my favorite rendition of a Metheny tune by someone other than Pat is "Always and Forever" from Roy’s album with strings, "Moment to Moment."

Bookmark and Share A big loss, no doubt. I saw Roy many years ago. Such great sounds from a man with a relatively slight frame. He shall be missed.
