I have been reading a lot of Jazz autobiographies during the Coronavirus Shutdown. I just finished Oscar Peterson’s autobiography and decided I would re-read The Pat Metheny Interviews : The Inner Workings Of His Creativity Revealed by Richard Niles. I bought it several years ago at the Store at Pat’s website. Niles has known Pat since 1974, where they met at the Berklee College Of Music. It is an excellent read for any of Pat’s fans that want to learn about his introduction to music as an eight year old and his life in music up to 2009, when the book was published. Great questions and great insightful answers on other musicians, recordings, and a lot more. For the talented musicians who can read music the other has transcribed some of the things he and Pat played during the interviews Niles did on BBC Radio. I highly recommend this book on Pat and it will do until he writes his autobiography.
