This year I have had a lot of free time due to my surgery recoveries. I have spent a lot of time listening to Pat’s very informative Podcasts. I found them here under the Media heading. Yesterday I finished listening to the last of five Podcasts regarding each song on As Wichita Falls, So Falls Wichita Falls. Both Pat and Lyle discuss each track in detail and explain many aspects from concept to recording. Pat said that Estupenda Graca (Porteguese) for Amazingrace, as it is based on that traditional song. He also explains the myth on the title track where a voice is hear reading of numbers. I plan to listen to the record tonight with the notes I made from the Podcast to appreciate the record even more. I highly recommend you check out the many great Podcasts of Pat’s at this website. Very informative and interesting look at Pat’s creative process.

Bookmark and Share I just finished listening to AWF,SFWF on my headphones and my Podcast notes in front of me. I have a whole new appreciation for the record. Another masterpiece and groundbreaking record from Pat and Lyle. Groundbreaking because Lyle deployed and mastered some new and older Synthesizers for the record. He really orchestrated the songs with layers of sounds and also played several of his most beautiful piano solos. Lyle said some of his favorite Pat solos are on this record. I highly recommend pulling out your copy of AFW, SFWF, but first listen to the Podcasts. It’s eve more impressive considering it was released in 1981 (Pat and Lyle were only 26 or 27 years old). I don’t think this record sounds dated and I do remember hearing most of the songs in concert for at least ten years. The title track is on Travels. I would like to hear what others here think about this record.
