I have had a slow start to the year for live Jazz. On Monday I caught Julian Lage playing a solo show at a multi-genre
venue. Julian played an acoustic guitar for the show, but made it sound like several guitarists playing together. It
reminded me of what Pat did on MoonDial. In January I saw pianist Benny Green perform a solo show at a nearby
venue. It was an incredible show, and he is a true master of the piano. Watching how he uses his Left hand was like
watching close-up magic, especially when he played stride piano. I was responsible two years ago for getting Benny
booked at the venue and they liked that show so much they brought him back. I am trying to bring him back again.
His 2023 show was one of my favorite for the year and I am sure this year’s will be in the top 5. |

I hope somebody posts their 2025 live music experience, as I feel like I am talking to myself. I have missed a lot of
great shows because on St Patrick’s Day I fell and tore my Hamstring while trying to catch a train to go see Julian
Lage perform a solo show. I made it but was in a lot of pain, so it was hard to enjoy.
Last night I caught Isaiah J Thompson Modern Jazz Ministry at a local venue near my home. I saw him twice at the
same venue as the pianist for the John Pizzarelli Trio. He was excellent then as a sideman, but last night was an
incredible show. He played several beautiful slow ballads but also had some burners. I was very close to the stage
and had a direct sightline to his hands. I was amazed at how fast he could play and what he was doing. He is only
twenty-eight years old, and the tenor saxophonist was oldest at thirty. Check him out, I know he is going to have a
great future.

I just discovered that a lot of dates have been added to Pat’s Schedule. Looks like all are Dream Box/MoonDial Tour
shows starting a The Blue Note in Hawaii, then the Orient and Australia. There is room in the schedule for many
more shows hopefully in the US.
